Gears of War and a new Google pagerank

Honestly I haven’t been blogging with the same enthusiasm  compared to the past few months.

Partly because of lack of inspiration and laziness combined. Besides, lack of access to a broadband connection has probably something to do with it.

But it may be a good thing too. There are other pursuits worth trying.

Anyway, google has ranked my page at 5. A vast improvement over my 1 ranking before. That’s rather strange. Will check back tomorrow to see what its rank actually is.

Am looking forward to Gears of War for the PC.  GOW is to the XBOX360 what Halo was for the XBOX. ‘Nuff said.

Just one lazy saturday morning

I thought I could enjoy it. But the construction work just outside my is driving me nuts.

But here’s a gem.

prehist.jpg

Prehistorik 2. One of my favourite all time games.

It’s classified as abondonware now and so you’ll have to get some DOS emulator to get it to work. DOSBOX works fine for me.

Get it at this link: http://oldgame.legalne.net/Prehistoric-2/fwid=30

I just can’t describe how this feels. I was like playing this game on my 486 a long long time ago…..(you can tell right, ‘1993′ on the screenshot)

Have you heard of Friedbeef.com?

I have 15 minutes to type this out and go to the loo before I start work. Thank God it’s Friday. Probably heading off to Jurong Point to catch Pirates. So you can expect a review later at night.

Anyway, got this cool Firefox extension from Friedbeef.com.

Download-them-all  will, and I mean WILL, speed up your downloads (jpegs, mp3s, movies, etc) by almost 1000%!

Like the other day, was downloading a song, and the in built download manager in Firefox downloads at a average speed of 15 KB/sec. (Horribly underutilizing the 100MBs plan we signed up for).  But Download-them-all sped it up to 153 KB/sec.

Will come back to edit this post with screenshots to prove it.

Starcraft 2?

Oh man this is so exciting! I know many of us have been craving for the next Starcraft in the series after Brood Wars. Now Gamespot.com has something to say about this.

So what could this ‘major announcement’ be?

Check out the Blizzard website.

Suggestive eh…

**I believe that Starcraft:Brood Wars was singularly responsible for the rise of the cybercafe industry in Malaysia.**

Launchy for Windows…

With this application, you’ll might never need to upgrade to Windows Vista anymore. I’ve just been using it for like 5 hours and I’m loving it already.

Launchy 1.25

With applications like this, I’m wondering whether the mouse will become obsolete in the near future.

Doing away with the GUI Desktop

Somehow this really clicked with me. It’s geeky stuff, but one that we have to deal with more and more and computers become more and more a part of our lives.

A snap from the Enso webpage. Their tagline is Get Humanized.

There is a weblog as well, which you can access here.

It would be interesting to see whether or not this paradigm will take off. I do agree a lot with what the presenter said: A lot of our assumptions on ease-of-use and organization are actually NOT so valid. I think what is happening nowadays, is the return to content, the return to people and actually making the computer-as in the famous HP tagline-personal again.

Mac man…

You Are a Mac

You are creative, stylish, and super trendy.
You demand the best – even if it costs an arm and a leg.

Are You a Mac or a PC?

Haha, I never thought so. I use a PC by the way and have no issue with Microsoft whatsoever.

Good things are meant to be shared…(3)

Another music website with an interesting way of organizing searches.

For the football insane ones out there.
RPG’s made for the PS2 have such great stories. A compilation of movie cutscenes of several games including Final Fantasy 12, Xenosaga in episodic format.

Another of those ultimate time wasters.

On another note concerning Maybank sudden policy shift, thank goodness I’ve pulled my money out of there.

Well I don’t have to a DAPsy member to close my account with Maybank-but seriously, is that even a threat? Why can’t they phrase it in terms of a moral stand?

**The screenshot, as you might have already guessed, is taken from Screenshots… (pun intended)
